EXPLORE THE EAST3ROUTE is an exciting initiative conceived by the governments of South Africa, Mozambique and Swaziland as far back as 1998. The aim is to promote trade, tourism, economic growth and job creation between and within the member countries and to capitalise on each region’s exciting topographical landmarks and existing blend of cultural and historical heritage. The Route also plans to impact positively on, and leave a lasting legacy for the communities of each area.
Distribution is done via Department of Economic Development (DEDT), Tourism KwaZulu-Natal (TKZN), Swaziland Tourism, Mocambique Tourism (Intur), Seychelles Tourism and tourism and publicity offices throughout KwaZulu-Natal. Copies are available for tourism trade shows like INDABA and WTM Africa (Cape Town). We also distribute at King Shaka International & Gauteng and the V&A Waterfront Offices of TKZN.

Business Tourism has been identified as a major source of opportunity to stimulate future economic growth and development in the province. The Department of Economic Development and Tourism, eThekwini Municipality and Durban Chamber of Commerce, the Durban KZN Convention Bureau has been launched with the aim of boosting business tourism. The development of a comprehensive brochure is considered an integral part of bringing more meetings, conferences, exhibitions and incentive tours to the province by raising the profile, both nationally and internationally as a business tourism destination. The aim of this guide is to inform, assist and support this initiative by promoting and showcasing the meeting venues and service partners that the province has to offer.
